The lake, which attract nature lovers in Japan is a Natural Monument and Japan’s second Ramsar site for its birdlife and wetland habitat, featuring over 200 species of birds and fishes and nearly 500 types of plants, including water lily and lotus varieties. In 1996, the sound of the Izunuma-Uchinuma greater white-fronted goose was selected as one of the 100 Soundscapes of Japan by the Ministry of the Environment.

In the summer, flowering lotuses cover 75% of the surface of the lake. The 20-30 minutes rides are operated by local fishermen during the festival, where you can enjoy the stanning view of the blanket of lilies and lotuses.
